I am a Senior Research Associate at the Faculty of Education and Research Fellow at Hughes Hall College, University of Cambridge. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Founding Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching. I am a member of the Cambridge Educational Dialogue Steering Group.

Shakhsiyah Education Model
For over twenty years, I have been developing the Shakhsiyah Educational model including principles that guide practice in Shakhsiyah Schools. I have theorised the concept of Shakhsiyah Islamiyah as the aim of education and have developed traditional halaqah as dialogic pedagogy to develop shakhsiyah Islamiyah. I lead the development of the Halaqah Curriculum which sits at the heart of a holistic thematic curriculum.
Professional Learning for Islamic Educators
I have been involved in many research projects in international professional development and teacher classroom inquiry. The bulk of my work is in Islamic educational contexts but I also have expertise on professional development for educational dialogue.
